Reagan as I saw it

To Whom It May Concern:

Reagan was a man who saw alot potential in America.  Its seems to me he also saw the ill fate dealt by a failed Carter administration.  But that is not how Reagan got elected twice to office.  It wasn't soley on the basis of how he delivered his message but rather the content of it that grabbed public support.  However at the core of his message he seamed able to talk about the things that the majority of Americans agreeded on and really get his point across.  I think he figured if 75-80% of the population agreeded an issue like taxes, or the Cold War were problems it was because they wanted their leadership to fix them.  They might not all agree on exact details of getting there.  In the end the only thing that mattered was the results that is why he led.

Today we have three issues that most Americans want fixed.  But none of them are being addressed by any of the candidates.  Sure they all have their "opinions" on each of them but none has been consistant in it.  The three main things most Americans agree need to change are energy independence, illegal immagration, and government spending.

Instead of having huge discussions on any other issues a candidate who wants to be the next president would do much better in setting the agenda.  If all a candidate for our party talked about was why we need to drill for oil, how hokey the "global warming" thing is, and how unrealistc the UN-democrat plan is.  We could really get somewhere by telling the public any chance we got that liberal want $5/gallon gas because they want to force us all to buy new cars.  These are the same chumps who don't want voter ID because some poor person can't afford an ID card.  How do you cash a welfare check without an ID card?   The further we go down this path the higher the prices of everything gets with no end in sight.  This is the single biggest gamble this country has ever taken and our "leadership" acts as if it is a fore gone conclusion.  What if we get really severe weather one year and can't grow a corn crop like we can today?  Has anyone thought about pointing out that this idea of "weaning" ourselves off of oil is full of hole?  That Algore is trying to reinvent the wheel, he is playing us like a carnival fortune teller.

Then there are the "jobs Americans don't want to do".  Anyone who says this is NOT a true conservative that includes Bush.  Who would want to bust their butt for $10-15/hr on some dead end job?  I don't understand how certain jobs that consist of skilled and unskilled labor have a set rate of pay in the minds of some and things like energy, medicine and law get traded openly on the free market.  The free market would determine that if there are not enough construction workers that the construction companies might have to pay a higher wage to get the job done.  Americans are smart they will go where the money is when it was in IT they went in droves.  The idea that some markets deserve an expemption from the free market and the laws of this country violates our constitution.  Enforcing the laws and repatriating  illegal aliens will have a huge positive impact on the middle class.  Some companies will have to raise their prices to increase payroll.  People will do any job in this country if we can make a decent living at it. $15/hr =30k/year that is $600/week before taxes.  Substract 20% that is $480 that is less than $2000 a month most house payment top $1000/ month.  Any rental agency will tell you that the minimum income per month to rent a home is three times the amount of the rent.  That would mean a person who wished to rent a home for their family would have to make $20/hr=40k/year that is $1000/week before taxes.  Subtract 20% that is $800 that is $3200/month.  To me that means these "guest workers" would be slaves of another color.

Government spending needs to be transparent to the people.  That is why the ear mark thing is so popular.  There is no debate their is no representation of the peoples' interests.  Call is whatever you want the fact is our founding fathers called a "tea party" over similar measures the british government used to take their money.  Their is no tax code that will fix this we need to have federal ballot iniatives to address these type issues.  That way laws can be written and voted on by the people to who the congress liable for stealing our money.  Allowing these people a soap box for their promises is like a bad intervention of a serious drug addict.  If nothing else we need a president who will veto any legislation with ear marked spending requirements.  Then to back it up appoint special prosecutors to investigate the members who put in for ear marks on legislation to see if their is any kick back or campaign donations associated with the spending.

Unfortunatly there are not ANY real leaders in the ranks of our party.
