History has taught us one definite fact in the realm of our countries mending of it's past transgressions. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction with negative consequences when emotions drive debate.
It's not at all hard to argue that President Obama enjoys a blank check on positive press due partly to his party affiliation. Clearly a suicidal Democrat bias in major media appears to be on the incline. But what sets Barack Obama out from any other presidential candidate is the the obvious. Being the first "African-American" to ever attain the office of president has taken this bias into uncharted territory.
While many of the hardcore GOP are quick to point out the bias in media and the race enhancers he enjoys many weaker in confidence aren't so sure it's the right tactic. The problem isn't objecting on an issue, the problem is in anticipating the reaction to intense media saturation and getting the real message to the constituent public.
This president is moving toward an America the voting majority doesn't want at breakneck speed. His advisors know that if he can't get his policies locked in before the 2010 campaigns begin they will have to wait until 2012 to try again. Americans want to get beyond the issues of race as they exist with the black community so they have allowed this bias to continue. The risk for Obama is taking the lack of critical opposition for granted to far in his push for a socialist America.
Obama has telegraphed his government takeover of the private sector of American business with minimal Democrat party resistance proving he is carrying out their true agenda. This alone can create a negative coat tail affect as congressional seats come up for election every two years. In 2005 Democrats resolved to the premise that America is a center right country and for them to regain any significant power in state and federal government they would have to run candidates that champion traditionally conservative issues. The mid-term elections of 2006 were saturated with tax cutting, pro-life, gun rights democrats as a result.
Many so called moderate members of GOP want to emulate this trend within the Republican party platform. The thinking is that by running more liberal candidates the GOP can grow it's base of voters. Debunking this nonsense is the single biggest factor in GOP mid-term success for 2010. For starters the Democrats adoption of conservative issues is not reflective of a party trying to grow it's base. Democrats are betting party association will not poison the electorates of individual incumbant representatives who don't identify with the national platform. This tact mirrors failured GOP plans that got the entire party tagged as fiscally irresponsibile resulting in the GOP's loss in power.
Backlash is building against the Democrat party in this light while the media and it's members are deliberatly ignoring it. In just the same way the Republicans tried to ignore all warning signs as they lost power. If the GOP embraces this shift and defines itself away from the ideals of liberalism that are the cause of the adverse economic issues at hand we can regain both houses of congress in 2010. The media will continue it's attempt to frame any GOP efforts as radical and marginalize the moderates just as it did with McCain.
The trick is to run all our candidates against the policies of President Obama not the persona that has been created around his image.
